Overview

"I reuse the same password everywhere and I know that's bad." "I got a breach notification." "Someone got into my email." If any of those is you, come to this one. Almost every bad thing that happens to an ordinary person's digital life comes through an account, not a device — nobody hacks your laptop, they log in as you, because a site you forgot about was breached in 2019 and you used the same password there. Your email is the master key, because every "forgot password" link in your life arrives in it. We set up a password manager properly, turn on two-factor where it counts, and set a PIN with your mobile carrier so nobody can steal your phone number and your text codes with it. We print your recovery codes before changing anything, because this is also the class where people lock themselves out of their own email — and we're not doing that to you.
